Treatment with dermal fillers begins with a consultation and mapping of your face in order to deliver customized treatment. During this time, we will discuss expectations and possible results. Although listed below, we will go over post treatment care and answer any questions you have. We will give you all the time you need to feel comfortable with the process!

The injections themselves typically take about 30-60 minutes. Dermal fillers contain an anesthetic to reduce pain during injections. We can also use topical numbing cream if you would like.

After your treatment with dermal fillers you may be a bit swollen, but there is very little recovery time. We do try to minimize bruising and swelling, but both can occur as a natural risk of the injection process. Below are some tips to reduce the risk of bruising. If bruising does occur we also have some tricks up our sleeves to speed recovery time, so please call us and ask!

Types of Dermal Fillers

Restylane®, Juvederm XC® and Voluma XC® line of products are FDA approved soft tissue fillers that restore facial volume loss and soften lines that have appeared as result of the natural aging process. These dermal fillers are injectable gels made from a natural, non-animal derived hyaluronic acid. Hyaluronic acid is a large molecule our bodies produce naturally that binds to water and helps hydrate our skin. When introduced through an injection, it has a unique ability to hold moisture and plump our skin back to the way it looked in our youth. The results of these products are natural, immediate and long lasting.

Dermal fillers can be administered throughout the entire face to soften lines and provide fullness. Restylane® and Juvederm XC® can also be used to minimize the appearance of facial scars and actively prevent fine lines from appearing or becoming deeper. These products can provide softness and fullness in the following areas:

  • Horizontal expression lines of the forehead
  • The glabellar area, or “elevens” that are between the eyebrows
  • The periorbital lines, also known as crow’s feet or smile lines at the corners of eyes
  • The tear trough area, or the area under the eyes that may look hollow
  • The midface region to provide fullness and lift in the cheeks
  • The nasolabial folds, or vertical smile lines that are from the corner of the mouth upwards to the side of the nose
  • The perioral lines, or the vertical lines around the mouth created when you pucker up
  • The philtral ridges that run vertically above the upper lip and below the nose
  • The oral commissures, or marionette that are often called “howdy doody” lines as they resemble the mouth of a puppet.
  • The lips, to increase plumpness and better define the border
